PPC simplifies commissioning of controllable consumption devices with EEBUS SHIP Pairing
Power Plus Communications (PPC) is further expanding the interoperable partner ecosystem around its SMGWplus. At the EEBUS Summit & Plugfest 2026 in Cologne, PPC recognized thirteen partner companies whose systems successfully completed interoperability tests with the SMGWplus or the CLS Adapter Steuerung. The tests focused on the EEBUS SHIP Pairing Service and the reliable transmission of control commands.
Project Completion energy data-X: Building a Secure, Sovereign and Decentralized Data Ecosystem
After three years of successful collaboration, the energy data-X innovation project is coming to an end. Together with its project partners, PPC has worked on developing a secure, sovereign, and decentralized data ecosystem for the energy sector. A key focus was the integration of intelligent metering systems (iMSys) as a highly secure communication platform. Successful use cases demonstrate how energy data can help optimize processes, unlock flexibility, and enable new data-driven business models in the future.
Solar Manager and PPC achieve a breakthrough in the exchange of dynamic price information via TOUT
Dynamic electricity tariffs offer a simple way of giving end customers immediate access to the benefits of smart metering systems (iMSys). However, the transmission of metering data relevant to billing is only part of what the iMSys is capable of. PPC and Solar Manager have now successfully demonstrated that tariff and price information can also be transferred to the property and used there for local optimisation. The new EEBUS certification goes significantly beyond the previous EEBUS pilot qualifications.

PPC is the first provider to successfully complete the new EEBUS certification. This confirms that, within the certified scope of functionality, the PPC solution meets the requirements of the EEBUS specifications and interoperates seamlessly with other EEBUS-certified devices. The new EEBUS certification goes significantly beyond the previous EEBUS pilot qualifications.

5G RedCap for Smart Meter Rollout: E.ON Grid Solutions, Westnetz, Telefónica Deutschland, and PPC Test New Mobile Communication Technology
Telefónica Deutschland, E.ON Grid Solutions, Westnetz, and Power Plus Communications AG (PPC) have successfully tested 5G RedCap as a new mobile communication technology for smart meter gateways. To do this, a 5G RedCap-enabled smart meter gateway from PPC was connected to the meter operator’s backend systems via Telefónica Deutschland’s 700-MHz network. This allowed the partners to simulate the entire communication chain under conditions close to real-world scenarios—from the smart meter gateway through the cellular network to the meter operator’s systems.
Energy Metering Becomes the First Metering Point Operator to Sign an SMGWplus Contract with PPC
With the SMGWplus, Energy Metering aims to further advance the digitization and scaling of its rollout. At the same time, the solution lays the groundwork for new and existing B2B partnerships. The company has set a goal of digitizing more than 1 million metering points in the coming years. The SMGWplus expands the functionality of the smart meter gateway beyond mere meter reading transmission.
